5Five Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America, Again and Again
America is not just the country south of the International Boundary; it’s the great country south for Canadian tourists to see the world, too. Regardless of the negative hype that the US never seem to get away from, the “land of the brave and home of the free” has charms enough to leave a lifelong impression on any Canuck visitor. If you can’t find a dependable Canadians’ travel guide to the US, the following information will help you in your quest and dispel any lingering doubts you may have about going on a US vacation.
Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America: The Visa Waiver Program
For all its vastness, America as a tourist destination (even coast-to-coast) is a cakewalk to a determined Canuck. Thanks to the VWP, Canadian tourists need only one of three things to cross the IB: a driver’s license, an enhanced ID, or a passport (Ok, and maybe a flight on Virgin America Airlines too). What is needed is simply proof of Canadian citizenship, really. Under-16 minors can even present just their birth certificate, and that’s all there is to it. Keep your passport handy, though: you never know when you’ll need it (It is still a requirement for passage to US territory by air).
Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America: It’s Just Like Canada
The Statue of Liberty is one of a kind; something uniquely America and symbolizes the American preoccupation with achieving world-defining milestones. In general, though, the US and Canada share many parallels and not just borders. Demographic diversity is just one of these. And, like Canada, the States has lands featuring rolling hills, valleys and mountains; breathtaking scenery is actually one of the great characteristics of America that has taken a backseat with its identification as a country preoccupied with ideals. There’s gentleness, warmth, and friendliness in this country just waiting to be discovered, something a lot of Canadians would like to find out for themselves.
Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America: CAD-USD Exchange Rates
A boom period never before seen before 2007 saw the Canadian Dollar gaining back lost ground and catching up with the US Dollar. With an exchange rate of almost 1:1, Canucks will get good value for their money, if they so choose to spend them Loonies in the land of the Greenbacks.
Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America: No Trans-Oceanic Passage Required
Are you deathly afraid of getting seasick, or have an irrational fear of crossing the ocean just to get to where you need to go? Fear not, then. It’s only an 8-hour trip from Toronto to New York, and that’s by car. The sharks will just have to do with the British.
Reasons Why Canucks Will Love Visiting America: The Tropics
A little further down south from New York is the sunny state of Florida, USA, where you can get a real tan lying on white, sandy beaches and watching other people participate in water sports. Wear a floral shirt with matching flip-flops and have a piña colada on hand, and the setting is perfect. What’s that? Not warm enough for you? No problem: there’s always Hawaii, USA.
The risk of a tourist being mugged may be a little bit higher in some of the larger US cities than in others (compared to those in Canuck country, for example) but no one can deny the beauty and majesty of America, found in its landscapes, its culture, and its people: which is to say, not just in its big-city identity, but down the valleys and up the hills, too. Oh, and don’t forget about the beaches.
I love the way you wrote this article. This is wonderful. I do hope you intend to write more of these types of articles. Thank you for this interesting content!
I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already Cheers!
I totally agree with this article. Next month I’m going to NYC and Boston and I’m so glad that the CAD is finally on par with the USD. Lets hope the Canadian Dollar overpowers the US Dollar. That would be nice!
I live in St Caths so I do love how close the US is to Canada. Although Buffalo really is our closest neighbour it’s fantastic how you don’t have to take a boat or a plane to New York state unless you really want to – just take a train or drive and you’re there!
ahahahha…this post make me smile..and yes, the exchange rate is ridiculous!!! I still remembered while I first immigrated to canada…the exchange rate was almost 2:1!!!!..hello US government!!!!
